Fox Lake correctional officer found guilty of sexual assault

The Dodge County District Attorney's Office says 34-year-old Alex Wouts worked as a Correctional Officer at the Fox Lake Correctional Institution and used his position to sexually assault inmates in his custody and control. Wouts now faces up to 125 years in prison followed by 75 years of supervision and $500,000 in fines.



Special election primary today in Wisconsin's 42nd Assembly District

Tuesday's races will take place in Wisconsin's 42nd Assembly District, which includes most of Columbia County, the northwest part of Dodge County and parts of Dane, Marquette, Green Lake and Fond du Lac counties. A Senate primary will take place in northeastern Wisconsin's 1st District.



Death of prison inmate was from hanging; likely a suicide

Twenty-nine-year-old Robert Moungey was found dead May 3. Brown County Sheriff John Gossage tells USA Today Network-Wisconsin that Moungey was alone in his cell when he was found. Sheriff's investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology tests before ruling out a crime, but they say indications are the death was a suicide.

Dean accused of harassment resurfaces at 2 other schools

Records show a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point official who handled sexual misconduct complaints and resigned when he was accused of sexually harassing a woman on campus in 2015, went on to hold similar positions at other universities. UW-Stevens Point placed Shawn Wilson, assistant dean of students, on leave in September 2015 following the harassment complaint.



Child tax credit, sales tax holiday set

And what parent wouldn't want this for every child dependent 18 and younger living in Wisconsin and a U.S. citizen as of Dec. 31, 2017? You may recall that Walker announced this plan in his State of the State address and he signed it into law on tax day in April. In addition to the one-time child tax rebate, the state will observe a sales tax holiday Aug. 1-5 for school items under a certain amount.



Wisconsin farm on the verge of collapse revived by community

In this March 30, 2018, photo, Dale and his wife Karen Cihlar pose for a photo at the Door County farm on South Shiloh Road, north of Sturgeon Bay, Wis. Cihlar was in despair, thinking of selling a parcel of the farm after the family's appeal to different banks failed.
